 (전국= KTN) 김도형 기자= 목표를 이루어가는 과정은 좌절을 겪지 않고 결과가 만들어지는 게 드문 법이다. 눈앞의 실패는 어려움과 절박함을 주지만 때때로 성공에 이르는 가장 가까운 길로 인도하기도 한다.  문주현 MDM그룹 회장 역시 굴곡진 인생사 가운데 숱한 위기가 있었다. 끈기와 오기로 그것을 넘어선 저력이 있었기에 오늘날 국내 1세대 디벨로퍼로서 그의 수식어 ‘신화’가 생긴 것인지도 모른다.

IMF 외환위기로 온 나라가 휘청거리던 시기인 1998년 문 회장은 가문의 성인 문의 ‘M’을 걸고 ㈜엠디엠(MDM)을 설립해 끝내 업계 1위 부동산개발회사로 성장시키는데 성공했다. MDM은 디벨로프 원조를 시작으로 부동산개발, 신탁, 리츠, 캐피탈, 자산운용을 수직 계열화하여 연면적 100만평에 총 분양 매출액 11조원의 개발사업 시행실적을 보유한 종합부동산금융그룹으로 성장했다.

국내 최초로 부동산과 금융을 결합한 새로운 비즈니스 플랫폼을 구축하여 부동산금융의 발전모델을 제시한 문 회장은 그야말로 부동산 업계에서 초석을 다진 국내 1세대 디벨로퍼, 부동산금융업계의 롤모델로 회자된다.

In 1998, when the whole country was reeling from the IMF financial crisis, Chairman Moon succeeded in establishing MMM (MDM) with the family's adult inquiry "M" and eventually becoming the No. 1 real estate development company in the industry. Starting with developer aid, MDM has grown into a comprehensive real estate finance group with a total sales of 11 trillion won with a floor area of 1 million pyeong by vertically integrating real estate development, trust, REITs, Capital and asset management.


Moon, who presented a development model for real estate finance by building a new business platform combining real estate and finance for the first time in Korea, is said to be a role model for the nation's first-generation developer and real estate finance industry that has laid the foundation in the real estate industry.

문 회장은 기업경영인으로서의 공적 역할과 함께 오랜 경험과 이력을 바탕으로 꾸준한 사회공헌활동을 펼치고 있다. 그는 2014년에 국토교통부 산하 법정단체인 한국부동산개발협회장에 추대되었고, 올해 2월까지 정부 관련부처 및 회원사와 함께 부동산산업 발전을 위한 공적 역할을 수행하였다. 아울러 2009년부터 민주평화통일자문회의 상임위원(제14기~제19기)으로 활동하면서 평화통일로 가는 경제정책 관련 자문활동을 하는 등 국가적 소임을 다하고 있다.

문 회장은 2016년부터 200만 전국검정고시총동문회 총회장으로서 후학을 지원하는 활동으로 검정고시동문들의 사회적 위상을 높이는가 하면, 2017년부터 세계청년리더총연맹(WFPL, WORLD FEDERATION OF POWER LEADERS) 상임고문으로서 청년인재들의 어려움 해소와 희망 키우기에 적극 힘을 실어주고 있다.

문 회장은 특히 노블레스 오블리주(noblesse oblige)를 실천하는 기업인으로 나눔과 소통의 주인공으로 회자된다. 그는 ㈜엠디엠 창업 3년차가 된 2001년, 10억 원의 수익 가운데 5억 원을 출연하여 문주장학재단을 설립하였다. 이후 2019년 기준 582억 원의 어마어마한 장학기금을 장학재단에 출연하고, 3천명 이상의 학생들에게 58억 원의 장학금을 지급하는 등 2002년부터 현재까지 가정 형편이 어려운 학생들이 학업을 이어가도록 활력을 심어주고 있다.

Along with his public role as a corporate manager, Moon has been carrying out steady social contribution activities based on his long experience and career. He was appointed as the head of the Korea Real Estate Development Association, a legal organization under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, in 2014, and played a public role in the development of the real estate industry with government-related ministries and member companies until February this year. In addition, he has served as a standing member of the Advisory Council on Democratic and Peaceful Unification (the 14th and 19th) since 2009 and has been fulfilling his national responsibilities by consulting on economic policies leading to peaceful unification.


Chairman Moon has been enhancing the social status of the qualification exam alumni by supporting juniors as the president of the 2 million National Association of Certified Public Officials since 2016, and has been actively supporting the youth talents in resolving difficulties and raising hopes since 2017 as a standing advisor to the World Federation of Youth Leaders (WFPL, WORLD FEDERATION OF POWER LEADERS).


In particular, Moon is said to be the main character of sharing and communication as a businessman who practices Noblesse oblige. In 2001, when he became the third year of MM's foundation, he established the Munju Scholarship Foundation with 500 million won out of 1 billion won in profits. Since then, it has provided a huge scholarship fund worth 58.2 billion won to the scholarship foundation as of 2019 and provided 5.8 billion won to more than 3,000 students, giving vitality to students in need from 2002 to the present.

문 회장의 다방면 후학 양성과 봉사활동 의지는 쉼이 없다. 2019년 건국대학교에 융합형 창의 학습공간 ‘K-큐브’ 첨단 교육시설 구축과 학생 장학기금 등 운용발전기금 20억 원, 2018년 (재)김해시인재육성장학재단에 장학기금 2억 원 기탁, 2017년 한양대학교에 한양대학교 도시대학원 및 부동산융합대학원 학생에 장학금 지급 명목으로 2천만 원 기부했다. 같은 해 가천대학교에 도서관 건립과 '엠디엠플러스 장학금'지급 등 발전기금 5억 원, 2016년 경희대학교 세계 평화의 날 학술대회 1억 원 후원, 2015년 경희대학교 경희의료원 트러스트발전기금 1억 원, 2008년 경희대학교 경영발전기금 2억 원을 전달했다. 아울러 2011년부터 2016년까지 전국검정고시총동문회와 사단법인 검정고시지원협회에서 추천한 학생들에게 해마다 장학금(수혜 장학생 94명, 장학금 1억3천2백만 원 수여) 을 지급했고, 2017년부터는 매년 50여명의 학생을 선발해 장학후원을 이어가고 있다.

In 2019, he donated 2 billion won to Konkuk University for the construction of a high-tech educational facility for K-Cube, a convergence creative learning space, and a scholarship fund of 200 million won to the Gimhae Human Resources Development Foundation in 2018, and 20 million won to Hanyang University students in 2017 for the purpose of providing scholarships to students at Hanyang University's Graduate School of Urban Studies and Real Estate Convergence. In the same year, he delivered 500 million won in development funds, including the construction of a library and the payment of the "MDM Plus Scholarship," 100 million won in sponsorship of Kyunghee University's World Peace Day academic conference in 2016, 100 million won in trust development fund at Kyunghee University's Kyunghee Medical Center in 2015, and 200 million won in management development fund at Kyunghee University in 2008. In addition, from 2011 to 2016, the government provided scholarships (94 students with benefits and 132 million won in scholarships) to students recommended by the Korean Association of Certified Public Examination alumni association, and from 2017, it has selected 50 students every year to continue sponsoring the scholarship.

사람을 행복하게 하는 건 목표와 계획이 있는 소망이 삶의 강력한 동인이 될 때다. 소망을 현실로 이루어가려는 이들의 소소한 버팀목이자 마중물이 되어온 문 회장은 그들의 절실한 순간에 서 있는 ‘키다리 아저씨’처럼 알게 모르게 나란한 걸음을 한 동반자 역할을 해왔다는 점에서 늘 많은 이들의 귀감이 된다.

문 회장은 오래 전부터 스포츠ㆍ문화산업육성에 관심을 기울여왔다. 2015년 한국여자바둑리그 출범부터 2018년 대회까지 그는 4년 연속 총 11억 원을 후원하면서 최초 한국여자바둑리그 출범의 산파 역할을 자처했다.

2013년 2월부터 2016년 2월까지 서울시 탁구협회장을 맡기도 한 그는 탁구 꿈나무 육성을 위한 후원 모금 행사를 열어 1억4천여만 원의 후원금 모금, 협회 재정확보를 위해 9천300만원의 후원금을 지원하는 등 생활체육 발전에 힘을 보탰다. 또한 2018 평창동계올림픽대회 및 동계패럴림픽대회의 성공개최 후원을 위해 2억 원을 기탁했다.

Making a person happy is when a desire with goals and plans becomes a powerful driver of life. Moon, who has been a prop and priming water for those who want to make their wishes come true, is always a model for many, given that he has served as a companion who has been walking unknowingly like a "long-legged uncle" standing in their desperate moments.


Moon has long paid attention to fostering sports and cultural industries. From the launch of the Korea Women's Baduk League in 2015 to the 2018 tournament, she supported a total of 1.1 billion won for the fourth consecutive year, claiming to be the midwife of the first Korean Baduk League.


He also served as the head of the Seoul City Table Tennis Association from February 2013 to February 2016 and helped develop sports-for-all by holding a fund-raising event to foster promising table tennis players, raising some 140 million won in donations and 93 million won in donations to secure the association's finances. It also donated 200 million won to support the successful hosting of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics.

문 회장은 지역사회 발전을 위해서 2017년 ‘전주얼티 및 뮤직페스티벌’ 후원하는가 하면, 2016년 장흥 국제통합의학박람회’ 위원으로서 지원업무협약에 따라 박람회 참여기관과 관객유치 활동 등 박람회의 성공개최에 적극 기여했다.

문 회장은 저출산 문제 및 취약계층 해소와 같은 사회 문제에도 관심이 남다르다. 그룹계열회사 임직원 자녀에 대해 태어날 때부터 고등학교를 졸업할 때까지 매달 자녀 1인당 일정액(3자녀 1백만원)의 출산 장려금을 지급하고, 대학 진학 시 자녀 전원 4년간 등록금 전액을 지원하는 등 구성원 조력에 힘쓰고 있다. 최근에는 코로나19 확산 방지를 위한 성금 1억5천만 원 기부, 사회복지재단(이삭의 집, 물망초) 정기후원 2억여 원, 119안전재단과 취약계층 보호체계인 119생명번호사업에 대한 협약을 맺어 독거노인과 치매환자 등을 위한 119생명번호 팔찌용도 2천만 원을 기부했다. 또 농촌과 사회복지단체를 동시 지원하기 위해 쌀 수십 톤을 구입하여 기부하는 등 소외된 곳을 살뜰히 살피며 알찬 봉사를 실천하고 있다.

이밖에 2014년 서울시청 시민청의 ‘서울책방’ 시설 기부 1억 원, 2012년 서울 관악구청의 ‘용꿈 꾸는 작은 도서관’ 건립에 1억 원을 지원하는 등 시민들이 이용하는 공적시설에도 애정을 쏟았다.

Chairman Moon is also interested in social issues such as low birth rates and resolving vulnerable groups. It is working hard to help the members by providing a certain amount of childbirth incentives (one million won for three children) for each child every month from birth to graduation from high school, and by providing full tuition fees for all children for four years when entering college. Recently, it donated 150 million won to prevent the spread of Corona 19, 200 million won to the Social Welfare Foundation (House of Isaac, Mulmancho), and 20 million won to the 119 Life Number Project, which is a protection system for the vulnerable, and donated 20 million won to the 119 Life Number bracelet for the elderly living alone and dementia patients. In addition, the government is carefully examining the underprivileged by purchasing and donating dozens of tons of rice to support rural communities and social welfare organizations at the same time.


In addition, he also devoted his affection to public facilities used by citizens, including 100 million won in donations to the Seoul Metropolitan Government's "Seoul Bookstore" facility in 2014 and 100 million won in 2012 for the construction of the "Little Library for Dragon Dream" in Gwanak-gu Office in Seoul.

문 회장은 2014년 한국부동산개발협회장으로서 회관건립에 필요한 재정을 지원하는 등 해당 법정단체 위상을 높이는데 이바지했다. 회관건립 협찬금으로 6억 원을 지원하고 자체 회관 마련 프로젝트를 추진해 설립 15년만인 2019년 자체 사옥 구입 및 입주를 실현시켰다. 특히 정부로부터 ‘부동산개발업의 등록’ 및 ‘실적관리 업무’를 위탁 받아 위탁업무(법제화)를 하는 등 한국부동산개발협회 중추 역할을 톡톡히 담당했다.

문 회장은 2014년 전국NGO단체연대가 선정한 '올해의 닮고 싶은 인물', 2016년 대한민국참봉사대상(KOREA AWARDS), 2018년 아태국제경영학회(APAIB)-UN 공동학회 ‘글로벌 경영대상’, 사단법인 대한인터넷신문협회가 주최한 2020년 제6회 INAK사회공헌대상 국가발전부문 ‘국가발전공로대상’ 등을 수상했다.

하나의 목적에 심취하여 집중하다 보면 성취의 단맛을 보고는 한다. 문 회장의 다음 소망이 어떤 동인이 되어 훗날 많은 이들의 단꿈과 함께 성장해나갈지 사뭇 기대된다.
