AI 반려동물 헬스케어 솔루션 ‘닥터 아몬드’, DB손해보험과 PoC 착수

‘DB다이렉트 펫블리보험’과 헬스데이터 연동… 차세대 펫보험 모델 실험 본격화

[한국유통신문= 김도형 기자] AI 기반 반려동물 생체신호 모니터링 솔루션 ‘닥터 아몬드’를 개발한 ㈜아몬드가 성남산업진흥원이 주관하는 ‘2025년 성남 스케일업 오픈이노베이션’ 과제에 최종 선정됐다. 이에 따라 7월부터 10월까지 약 4개월간 DB손해보험과 함께 반려동물 헬스케어 분야에서 공동 PoC(개념검증)를 진행한다.

DB손해보험은 자사 펫보험 브랜드인 ‘DB다이렉트 펫블리보험’을 통해 디지털 반려동물 보험 시장을 선도하고 있다. 이번 PoC에서는 ‘닥터 아몬드’의 AI 생체신호 분석 기술과 DB손해보험의 보험 서비스 간 연동 가능성을 다각도로 검토하며, 데이터 기반 차세대 펫보험 모델의 실현 가능성을 타진한다는 계획이다.

AI와 보험의 만남, ‘사전예방형 보험 모델’로 진화

㈜아몬드는 체온, 심박수, 혈압 등 반려동물의 주요 생체신호를 측정할 수 있는 블루투스 기반 스캐너를 자체 개발했으며, 이를 토대로 AI 알고리즘이 건강 이상 징후를 예측하는 반려동물 헬스케어 플랫폼 ‘닥터 아몬드’를 운영 중이다. 현재까지 500여 마리의 반려동물 데이터를 수집해 종별·개체별 특성에 맞춘 보정 알고리즘과 리스크 탐지 모델을 고도화하고 있으며, 실시간 건강 모니터링이 가능한 사용자 친화적 모바일 앱도 함께 제공하고 있다.

이번 오픈이노베이션은 단순한 기술 연동을 넘어서 ‘사전예방 중심의 보험 모델’을 실현할 수 있는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다. 반려동물의 생체신호 및 행동 데이터를 기반으로 질환 위험도를 사전에 예측하고, 보호자가 선제적으로 건강 관리를 수행할 수 있도록 지원하는 구조다. 이는 보험사에는 손해율 절감, 보호자에게는 보험료 할인 등 인센티브로 연결될 수 있어 쌍방 모두에게 실질적인 가치를 제공할 수 있다.

㈜아몬드 관계자는 “이번 PoC는 단순히 기술의 유효성을 검증하는 차원을 넘어, 헬스케어와 보험이 데이터를 매개로 어떻게 융합될 수 있을지 실질적으로 실험하는 자리”라며, “데이터 기반 반려동물 보험의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하는 의미 있는 협업이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

DB손해보험 관계자 역시 “반려동물 헬스 데이터를 보험 서비스에 접목하려는 시도는 고객 편익을 높이는 동시에, 사회 전체의 의료비용 절감에도 기여할 수 있다”며, “이번 협업을 통해 데이터 기반 펫보험의 방향성과 시장 가능성을 구체화해 나갈 계획”이라고 전했다.

이번 과제를 주관한 성남산업진흥원은 ‘스케일업 오픈이노베이션’ 프로그램을 통해 기술 기반 스타트업과 대·중견기업 간의 공동 실증을 촉진하고 있으며, 스타트업의 사업화 가능성을 높이는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

㈜아몬드는 이번 실증 결과를 바탕으로 보험, 유통, 제휴 동물병원 등과의 후속 파트너십을 확대해 나가고 있으며, 향후에는 ▲AI 기반 건강 예측 모델 ▲디지털 치료제(DTx) 연계 ▲글로벌 펫헬스 시장 진출 등을 목표로 기술과 서비스를 지속적으로 고도화할 계획이다.

[Korea Distribution Newspaper = Reporter Kim Do-hyung] Almond Co., Ltd., which developed the AI-based companion animal biosignal monitoring solution "Dr. Almond," has been finally selected for the "2025 Seongnam Scale-Up Open Innovation" project organized by the Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency. Accordingly, joint PoC (concept verification) will be conducted in the pet healthcare field with DB Insurance for about four months from July to October.

DB Insurance is leading the digital companion animal insurance market through its pet insurance brand 'DB Direct Petble Insurance'. In this PoC, the possibility of linking between 'Dr. Almond's AI biosignal analysis technology and DB Insurance's insurance services will be reviewed from various angles, and the feasibility of the data-based next-generation pet insurance model will be explored.

AI meets insurance, evolves into a 'preventive insurance model'

Almond Co., Ltd. has developed its own Bluetooth-based scanner that can measure major bio-signals of pets such as body temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure, and based on this, it is operating "Doctor Almond," a pet healthcare platform where AI algorithms predict signs of health abnormalities. So far, it has collected data on more than 500 pets to improve correction algorithms and risk detection models tailored to the characteristics of each type and individual, and is also providing a user-friendly mobile app that can monitor health in real time.

This open innovation is expected to be an opportunity to realize a "pre-prevention-oriented insurance model" beyond simple technology linkage. It is a structure that predicts disease risk in advance based on biometric signals and behavioral data of companion animals and supports caregivers to preemptively perform health care. This can lead to incentives such as reduction of loss ratio for insurance companies and discount of insurance premiums for guardians, providing practical value to both sides.

"This PoC goes beyond just verifying the effectiveness of the technology, and it is a place to actually test how healthcare and insurance can be fused through data," an Almond official said. "It will be a meaningful collaboration that presents a new paradigm for data-based pet insurance."

An official from DB Insurance also said, "Attempts to incorporate pet health data into insurance services can increase customer benefits and contribute to reducing medical costs for society as a whole," adding, "We plan to specify the direction and market potential of data-based pet insurance through this collaboration."

Seongnam Industry Promotion Agency, which organized the project, is promoting joint demonstration between technology-based startups and large and medium-sized companies through the "Scale-Up Open Innovation" program, and focuses on increasing the possibility of commercialization of startups.

Based on the results of this demonstration, Almond Co., Ltd. is expanding follow-up partnerships with insurance, distribution, and affiliated animal hospitals, and plans to continue to advance technologies and services with the aim of ▲AI-based health prediction model ▲ digital treatment (DTx) linkage ▲ entering the global pet health market.
