《World Geumgung Sports Association's Words of the Day》The 2021 National Sports Festival was expected to be a day of national integration.

 2021 전국체전은 10월 8일부터 14일까지 구미시민운동장을 비롯하여 12개 시.군의 71개 경기장에서 열렸다.

이철우 경북도지사는 포스트코로나 시대에 전국체전이 국민 대화합과 치유와 경제 활성화를 이루는 역대 가장 성공한 대회가 되도록 전 국민의 관심과 응원을 부탁했다.

구미국가산업단지 조성과 조국 근대화를 일군 주역으로 평가받는 박정희 대통령의 고향이자 인재의  땅인 선산 구미에서 열리는 전국체전이어서 그 의미가 더욱 남다르다.

예로부터 조선인재의 반은 영남에서, 영남인재의 반은 선산에서 난다하였던 것처럼 나라를 위해 일한 큰일꾼들을 많이 배출한 땅이다.

지난 전국체전은 코로나19로 침체되고 암울해진 국민정서를 일거에 해소하고 밝고 희망찬 내일을 위한 전국민과 세계동포들의 의기투합의 장이 될 것으로 기대했으나 다소 미미한 영향을 끼쳤을 뿐이다.

또한 개회식과 폐회식에서는 나라와 민족의 긍지를 한껏 느끼게 할 수 있는 멋진 상생의 장이 되도록 전국민의 창의적인 생각을 공모하기를 바랬아나 그 역시 큰 감흥은 없었다. 하지만 역사적으로는 의의가 있다.
