[한국유통신문= 김도형 기자] 3월 30일 일요일, 경상북도 구미시 금오산에서 필리핀 커뮤니티의 자원봉사자인 펠리타가 주도하는 집회가 열릴 예정이다. 이 집회는 국제형사재판소(ICC)에서 기소된 두테르테 전 필리핀 대통령의 구금 문제에 대해 주의를 끌고, 그의 귀환을 요구하는 목소리를 높이기 위한 것이다.

이번 집회의 핵심은 두테르테 전 대통령을 필리핀으로 되돌려 보내자는 요구이다. 펠리타는 “우리는 우리의 염려를 표명하고, 우리가 사랑하는 대통령에게 일어난 일에 대한 의견을 전달하고자 합니다. 그는 필리핀 국민의 80% 이상에게 존경받고 사랑받았으며, 그가 겪고 있는 상황은 너무나 가슴 아프고 불법적이라는 생각을 하고 있습니다”라고 설명했다. 두테르테 전 대통령은 필리핀에서 절대적인 지지를 받았던 인물로, 3월 11일 그의 납치가 일어난 것으로 알려져 있다.

이번 집회의 목적은 이 불법적인 행위에 항의하고, 두테르테 전 대통령의 귀환을 요구하는 것이다. 필리핀 커뮤니티는 그의 구금이 법적으로 옳지 않다고 주장하며, 이를 전 세계에 알리기 위해 집회를 개최한다. 펠리타는 “우리는 이것이 잘못된 일이며, 이런 일이 일어나선 안 된다고 믿습니다”라고 말했다.

이번 집회는 예상보다 적은 20명 이하의 참가자가 모일 것으로 보인다. 펠리타는 구미 지역에 거주하는 필리핀 사람들이 주로 참여할 것이며, 집회가 작고 평화롭게 진행될 것이라고 강조했다. “구미에서 이런 종류의 집회는 처음이기 때문에 우리가 무엇을 기대해야 할지 모르겠지만, 평화롭고 조용하게 진행될 것입니다. 필리핀 사람들은 평화로운 사람들로 잘 알려져 있습니다”라고 펠리타는 말했다.

집회는 일요일 오후 4시부터 6시까지 금오산 주차장에서 열릴 예정이다. 펠리타는 이미 구미시 경찰서를 방문해 집회 허가를 요청한 상태이다.

두테르테 전 대통령의 특별한 생일

집회 일정은 두테르테 전 대통령의 80번째 생일과 일치한다. 두테르테 전 대통령은 2025년 3월 28일, 필리핀 역사상 처음으로 생일을 구금 상태에서 보내게 된다. 펠리타는 “우리는 이 상황을 매우 슬프게 생각하고 있습니다. 필리핀 역사상 처음으로 우리 사랑하는 대통령이 생일을 구금 상태에서 보내게 되는 것입니다. 이는 필리핀 커뮤니티 모두에게 받아들일 수 없는 일입니다”라고 말했다.

집회는 "두테르테를 돌아가게 하라! 그를 집으로 데려와라!"라는 외침으로 마무리될 예정이다. 펠리타는 구미 지역에 거주하는 모든 필리핀 사람들이 이 운동에 동참해 줄 것을 요청했다.

이번 집회를 준비하는 펠리타는 비록 예상되는 어려움에 대해 불안함을 표했지만, 희망을 잃지 않고 있다. “우리는 세상에 우리의 목소리를 전달하고, 우리 대통령을 지지하며 정의를 요구하는 뜻을 밝혀야 합니다. 이것은 우리가 올바른 일에 대한 믿음을 가지고 하나로 뭉친다는 것을 보여주는 순간입니다”라고 말했다.

이번 집회는 단지 한 사람의 문제를 넘어, 정의, 공정성, 그리고 모든 사람의 권리에 대한 요구의 상징이 될 것이다.

집회가 가까워짐에 따라 구미시 금오산에서 필리핀 커뮤니티는 평화롭고 단합된 방식으로 그들의 목소리를 높일 준비를 하고 있다. 이번 집회는 단지 정치적인 성명이 아니라, 정의와 공정성을 위한 투쟁을 나타내는 강력한 상징이 될 것이다.

'Duterte Home!' Philippine Community Wishes With Peaceful Rally

Geumosan, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, led by Felita, a volunteer from the Philippine community. The rally is aimed at drawing attention to the detention of former Philippine President Duterte, who was indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), and raising voices calling for his return.

The core of the rally is the call to send Duterte back to the Philippines. Felita explained, "We want to express our concern and express our opinion on what happened to the president we love. He was respected and loved by more than 80 percent of the Filipino people, and we find his situation to be so heartbreaking and illegal." Duterte received absolute support in the Philippines, where his abduction was known to have taken place on March.

The purpose of the rally is to protest this illegal act and demand the return of former President Duterte. The rally will take place in the parking lot of Mt. Geumo from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Felita has already visited the Gumi Police Station and requested permission for the rally.

Former President Duterte's Special Birthday

The rally schedule coincides with Duterte's 80th birthday. On March 28, 2025, Duterte will spend his birthday in custody for the first time in Philippine history. "We feel very sad about the situation. This is the first time in Philippine history that our beloved president will spend his birthday in custody. This is unacceptable to all of the Filipino community."

The rally will conclude with a cry of "Let Duterte go back! Bring him home!" Felita asked all Filipinos living in the American and American regions to join the movement.

While preparing for the rally, Felita has not lost hope, although she expressed anxiety about the expected difficulties. "We need to make our voices heard to the world, support our president, and call for justice. This is a moment that shows that we come together with faith in the right thing," she said.
