The Northeast Process is a research project on the history and phenomena of the northeastern border region promoted by China since 2002 to make all the history developed within the Chinese border into Chinese history, and historical distortion is still underway.

동북공정은 중국 국경 안에서 전개된 모든 역사를 중국 역사로 만들기 위해 2002년부터 중국이 추진한 동북쪽 변경지역의 역사와 현상에 관한 연구 프로젝트이며, 역사왜곡은 현재도 진행중이다.

재야 사학자들에 따르면 한민족의 시원(始原)을 밝혀준 홍산문화는 환국의 후손인 배달겨레가 중심이 되어 이룩한 문화이며, 그 기반 위에 단군조선이 건국으로 이어진다.

재야 사학자들은 기원전 7197년에 세워진 세계 최초의 국가 환국의 위치가 바로 바이칼호 주변으로, 빙하기가 끝나 기후가 풀리면서 자연히 이들이 동서남북으로 뻗어 나갔다고 주장하고 있다.

실제로 유전과학을 통해 우리민족의 시원(始原)이 바이칼 호수에 있었음을 보여주며 그 뒤 이들이 남하해 요하문명과 알타이어를 탄생시켰다는 사실에 합리적인 근거가 되고 있다.
