요리에서 예술로, 김지훈 작가의 특별한 여정

[한국유통신문= 김도형 기자] 오는 2025년 4월 4일부터 6일까지, 프랑스 파리의 루브르 박물관 카루젤에서 개최되는 국제 미술 전시회 ‘ART SHOPPING PARIS 2025’에 한국 작가 김지훈이 참가한다. 요리사이자 예술가인 그의 독특한 작품 세계를 만나본다.

김지훈 작가는 자신을 ‘요리하는 화가’라고 소개한다. 그는 점심시간이면 짬뽕을 만들고, 여가 시간에는 펜을 들고 그림을 그린다. 요리와 예술은 그의 삶에서 떼려야 뗄 수 없는 관계다. 재료를 고르고, 정성을 담아 조리하고, 손님이 만족하는 순간을 즐기는 과정이 바로 그의 예술 철학과 맞닿아 있다.

“요리도 그림도 결국 누군가에게 기쁨을 주는 작업입니다. 그게 제가 이 길을 계속 걷게 만드는 힘이죠.”

그의 작품에는 우리가 살아온 도시, 골목, 전래동화 속 동물들이 등장한다. ‘두꺼비촌’에서는 재개발 전의 따뜻한 도시 풍경을 담아냈고, ‘겨울햇살’에서는 추운 날 짧은 햇살이 주는 위로를 표현했다. 한국인의 정서를 담은 ‘한국호랑이’ 시리즈와 감천마을, 흰여울마을 같은 우리네 삶의 흔적도 주요 소재다.

어린 시절 전래동화를 들을 때부터 한국인의 삶에 가장 친숙하게 들어와 있는 동물. 호랑이.

이전에 살았던 도시에 대한 기억을 그림. (두껍아~두껍아~ 헌집줄게 새집다오! 하고 노래하는 시절인 개발이 이루어지기 전의 도시)

그는 펜화를 중심으로 작품을 완성한다. 펜의 선으로 원근과 명암을 표현하고, 스크래치 기법과 묽은 커피를 활용해 시간의 흐름까지 담아낸다.

세계적인 미술 전시회 ‘ART SHOPPING PARIS 2025’에 초청된 소감을 묻자, 그는 “솔직히 믿기지 않는다. 너무 기쁘다”라며 환한 미소를 지었다.

앞으로의 목표에 대해 묻자 그는 거창한 꿈보다는 ‘지금처럼 계속 그림을 그릴 수 있기를 바란다’고 답했다. 쌓여가는 기억, 반복되는 일상, 사랑하는 가족과의 추억을 작품 속에 담아가는 것이 그의 가장 큰 바람이다.

“우리는 늘 소중한 것들을 가까이 두고 살아갑니다. 저의 작품이 그 사실을 깨닫는 작은 계기가 되길 바랍니다.”

김지훈 작가의 작품을 루브르 박물관에서 만나볼 수 있는 이번 전시. 그의 따뜻한 감성과 익숙한 풍경이 세계인들에게 어떤 감동을 선사할지 기대된다.

ART SHOPPING PARIS 2025, the emotional world of Kim Ji-hoon to meet in the Louvre

From Cooking to Art, Writer Kim Jihoon's Special Journey

[Korea Distribution Newspaper = Reporter Kim Do-hyung] From April 4-6, 2025, Korean artist Kim Ji-hoon will participate in the international art exhibition "ART SHOPPING PARIS 2025" at the Louvre Museum Carousel in Paris, France. Meet the world of his unique works as a chef and artist.

Author Kim Ji-hoon introduces himself as a "cooking painter." He makes jjamppong during lunchtime and draws pictures with a pen in his spare time. Cooking and art are inseparable from his life. The process of choosing ingredients, cooking with sincerity, and enjoying the moment when customers are satisfied is in line with his art philosophy.

"Cooking and painting are work that brings joy to someone, after all. That's the power that keeps me on this path."

In his work, the cities, alleys, and animals in traditional fairy tales that we have lived in appear. "Toad Village" captures the warm urban landscape before redevelopment, and "Winter Sunshine" expresses the comfort given by the short sunlight on a cold day. The "Korean Tiger" series, which contains Korean emotions, and traces of our lives, such as Gamcheon Village and White Yeoul Village, are also the main subjects.

He completes his work centering on pen paintings. He expresses perspective and contrast with pen lines, and even captures the passage of time by using scratch technique and dilute coffee.

When asked how he felt about being invited to the world-class art exhibition "ART SHOPPING PARIS 2025," he said with a bright smile, "Honestly, I can't believe it. I'm so happy."

When asked about his future goals, he replied, "I hope I can continue to draw as I am now," rather than having a grand dream. His biggest wish is to capture accumulated memories, repetitive daily lives, and memories with his loved ones in his work.

"We always live close to our precious things. I hope my work will serve as a small opportunity to realize that fact."

The exhibition, in which visitors can see Kim Ji-hoon's artworks at the Louvre Museum, is expected to see how his warm sensibility and familiar scenery will impress people around the world.
