제 4수는 부모를 여윈 이들에게 참으로 애처롭고 애틋하다.

"어버이 살아실제 섬기기를 다하여라.

지나간 후면 애닯다 어이하리.

평생 고쳐 못할 일이 이뿐인가 하노라"

필자는 훈민가로 계몽되어 한 수 읊어본다.

"어버이 날이면 카네이션으로 부모님의 은혜를 생각하고

평생 부모님 가슴에 못박는 일만 해온 불효자식이라 자책하니

하늘 같은 부모님, 평상시에 잊지 말고 늘 공경해야 하노라."
