ODVA, Industry Automation, and New Steps to Network Standards

[Korea Distribution Newspaper = Reporter Kim Do-hyung] On Mar. 20, the Open Device Net Vendor Association (ODVA) announced at the 23rd annual meeting of its members in Clearwater, Florida, the U.S., that it has completed the selection of its 24th executive branch. This election is expected to serve as an important stepping stone to further strengthen ODVA's future vision and technological innovation.

ODVA launched a strategic initiative to achieve technological innovation and improved operational excellence. This effort aims to prepare for future challenges through a comprehensive review process initiated by the ODVA board. The ODVA board is made up of senior executives from industrial automation device and system providers, and the selection of executives marks an important turning point for ODVA to take the highest level of responsibility in technology and governance.

The newly elected members of the 24th ODVA Board are as follows:

Franz Durmeier – Director of Digital Integration, Endreshauser Process Solutions

Jon DeSouza – Harting, U.S. President and CEO

Shigehisa Toshiyuki – General Manager, Omron Drive Product Management Group

Davis Matthews – President, Phoenix Contact Industry Management and Automation Business

Thomas Petersen – Senior Director, Danforth Fieldbus and Systems Integration

Brian Reynolds – Honeywell Project and Automation Solutions CTO

André Uhl – Schneider, Vice President, Technology and Architecture, Industry Automation Division

Scott Miller – Vice President, Lockewell Automation Digital and Platform Technology

ODVA's corporate executives play an important role in developing strategic plans and overseeing the development of technology and specifications. The 24th executive team is as follows:

Adrienne Meyer – Vice President, Operations and Member Companies

Joakim Wiberg – Chief Technology Officer

ODVA Technical Review Committee and Market Advisory Committee

ODVA's Technical Review Committee approves technical improvements included in ODVA specifications such as CIP (Common Industrial Protocol), EtherNet/IP, and DeviceNet and oversees the development of technologies and standards. Experts from major companies such as Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Danforth, and Endreshauser are participating in the members of the 24th Technical Review Committee.

ODVA's Market Advisory Committee evaluates global and regional adoption and use cases, and discusses the present and future of ODVA technology. Executives of major companies such as Lockwell Automation, Honeywell, and HMS Networks will represent the 24th Market Advisory Committee.

"We are focused on preparing for a connected future driven by technologies such as Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) and AI (Artificial Intelligence), and ODVA continues to emphasize interoperability, safety, and security through open technology, and is preparing for future challenges and opportunities through EtherNet/IP," Dr. Al Beidun, President and General Director of ODVA, said of its 24th goal.

ODVA will announce the schedule and venue for the fourth quarter of 2025, the 2026 Industrial Conference, and the 24th Annual Conference. These innovative activities clearly show that ODVA will play an important role in leading the standards of industrial automation and network technology.
