Maya Angelou (born 1928-2014), an American poet and novelist, is one of the most influential black women in the United States along with Tony Morrison and Oprah Winfrey.

She said in her lifetime, "If there's something you don't like, change it.

If you can't change it, change your mind. And don't complain."

As a person of character, you should always reflect on whether you have done something to blame before criticizing others for misbehaving.

Just as nothing is more ironic than an unscrupulous person criticizing an unscrupulous person, humans always commit foolish things that spit in their own faces.

Even if you don't like what's going on in the world, you should reflect on whether your eyes, mind, and thoughts have been overlaid with prejudice. Sometimes the world looks endlessly beautiful when you fix your biased mind.

인격을 가진 사람으로서 그릇된 행동을 한 타인을 비판하기 전에 스스로가 비난 받을만한 일을 하진 않았는지 늘 되새겨 봐야 한다.

 

부도덕한 사람이 부도덕한 이를 비난하는 것만큼 아이러니 한 일도 없듯이 인간은 언제나 자신의 얼굴에 침을 뱉는 어리석은 일을 범한다.

 

세상 돌아가는 일이 마음에 들지 않더라도 자신의 눈과 마음과 생각이 편견으로 덧씌워지지 않았는지 성찰해보아야 한다. 때론 편향된 마음을 고쳐 먹을 때 세상이 한없이 아름다워 보이기 때문이다.
