In 1962, 180 households moved to Hwasan Village collectively in accordance with the government's policy to reclaim mountainous areas.

The early settlers, who were located here, which had been barren after climbing the mountain path for two days, were socially marginalized and lacked electricity, water, and everything, so they built the current village with sweat and tears.

Thanks to the efforts of the village community, Hwasan Village won the first place in the landscape environment category at the 6th Happy Village Creation Contest in 2019.

화산마을 하늘전망대에 새겨진 서애 유성룡 선생이 남긴 옥정영원 시

경북 군위군 고로면 화북4리에 위치한 화산마을은 차를 타고 6km를 올라가야하는 해발 8oo여미터에 위치한 마을이다.

임진왜란 당시 재상이었던 유성룡 선생이 가을날 화산을 찾아와 맑은 옥정의 샘물을 마시며, 이곳의 아름다움을 칠언절구 시로 남겼다.
