세계 최고 수준의 삼성 소재 기업, 미국에서 중국 기업으로 주주 변동

타겟사업팀 기술을 노리는 중국업체, 장기적으로 일본 소재산업에 뒤쳐질 우려

Chinese companies seeking technology for target business teams are feared to lag behind Japanese-based industries in the long run.

(전국= KTN) 김도형 기자= 삼성코닝어드밴스글라스의 타겟 사업부에 대해 중국 기업이 대주주로서의 위치를 노리고 있다.구미국가산단에 소재한 삼성코닝어드밴스글라스의 한 사업부가 중국에 매각된다는 풍문이 있어 관련 취재에 나섰다.

삼성코닝어드밴스드글라스 유한회사는 삼성디스플레이와 미국 코닝이 50 대 50으로 TV용 유기발광다이오드(OLED) 패널의 기판유리'와 타겟 사업을 위해 세운 무기소재 전문 기업이다.

구미시에 따르면 삼성코닝의 타겟 사업부가 매각이 되는 것이 아니라 주주가 미국에서 중국쪽으로 바뀔 가능성이 있다고 밝혔다. 또한 기존 사업은 그대로 계속 영위될 것이라고 했다.

(National = KTN) Reporter Kim Do-hyung: A Chinese company is aiming to become a major shareholder in Samsung Corning Ad-Bansglass's target business unit.There has been a rumor that a unit of Samsung Corning Ad-Bansglass, located in Gumi National Industrial Complex, will be sold to China, so it has started to cover related news.

Samsung Corning-Advanced Glass Company is a company specializing in weapons materials set up by Samsung Display and Corning of the U.S. for TV OLED panel substrate glass" and target business at a 50-50 ratio.

According to Gumi City, Samsung Corning's target business division is not being sold, but there is a possibility that shareholders will change from the U.S. to China. It also said that existing businesses will continue to operate as they are.

삼성코닝어드밴스드글라스는 2014년 2월 삼성코닝정밀소재의 타겟 사업을 인수함으로써, 세라믹 분야의 축적된 나노 분말 기술력을 바탕으로 글로벌 시장점유율 1위의 타겟 생산 기업으로 거듭나게 됐다.
 

타겟은 디스플레이 패널(TFT-LCD, OLED, TSP 등)과 태양전지 패널에 박막 코팅을 통해 우수한 투명성과 전도성을 확보해주는 디스플레이 핵심 소재이며, 삼성코닝어드밴스드글라스는 전 세계 타겟 공급량 중 가장 큰 비중을 차지하는 회사로서, 지속적인 신제품 개발로 기술을 선도하고 있고, 전 세계 유수의 디스플레이 제조사에 제품을 공급하고 있다.

대한민국이 오랫동안 제조업 강국의 위상을 지켜왔으나 지난해 여름 일본이 불화수소 금수를 단행함에 따라 급속히 소재, 부품, 장비의 국산화를 도모하고 있는 상황이다. 이러한 상황에서 국내 굴지의 소재 산업이 중국의 손에 넘어 간다는 것에 대해 우려의 목소리가 크다.

By acquiring the target business of Samsung Corning Precision Materials in February 2014, Samsung Corning-Advanced Glass has become the No. 1 target producer in the global market share based on accumulated nano powder technology in the ceramic sector.

Target is a key display material that secures excellent transparency and conductivity through thin-film coating on display panels (TFT-LCD, OLED, TSP, etc.) and solar cell panels, and Samsung Corning Ad-Bans-Dlass is the company that takes up the largest portion of global target supply, and is leading technology through continuous development of new products and supplying products to leading display manufacturers around the world.

South Korea has long maintained its status as a manufacturing powerhouse, but it is rapidly seeking to localize materials, parts and equipment as Japan imposed an embargo on hydrogen fluoride last summer. Under these circumstances, there are many concerns that the nation's leading material industry is falling into the hands of China.
 
한편, 구미시 관계자는 구미국가산단에서 삼성코닝 소재 기업의 매각설과 관련해 "기업에서 사유재산을 누구에게 판다는 것을 이래라 저래라 한다는 것은 힘든 부분이 있다."며 회사 내부의 문제에 대해 깊이 관여할 수 없다는 입장이다.

구미시는 삼성어드밴스글라스 타겟 사업부에 대해 "매각이 되는 것이 아니라 주주가 바뀌는 것이다. 기존은 미국인데 중국쪽으로 바뀔 수 있다."며 "현재 중국이 20%가 들아와 있다. 기본적으로는 외국인 투자가 되어있다."며 국내 대기업의 현실에 대해 말했으며, 반면에 고용이 발생해 큰 문제는 없다고 했다.

구미산단 관계자는 "타겟사업은 디스플레이의 핵심소재임에도 불구하고 거저 주는 상황이다."라는 말과 함께 "삼성디스플레이 입장에서는 글라스 대비 수입이 안되는 입장이다."라고 했으며 관련 사업을 인수할 국내 업체가 있었음에도 불구하고 중국 업체에서 높은 가격을 제시해 넘어간 상황이라고 했다.

Meanwhile, a Gumi city official said, "It is difficult for a company to tell a company to sell private property to someone," regarding the sale of a Samsung Corning-based company at the Gumi National Industrial Complex.

"It's not a sell-off, it's a change in shareholders," Gumi City said of the Samsung Ad-Bans Glass target division. "It's the U.S., but it can be changed to China," he said. "It's now 20 percent of China. Basically, it is foreign investment.He said he talked about the reality of large domestic companies, while there was no big problem due to employment.

An official from Gumi Industrial Complex said, "Although the target business is a key material for displays, it is a situation where they give away free money," and added, "From Samsung Display's point of view, they cannot import compared to glass." Despite the fact that there was a Korean company that would take over the related business, Chinese companies have offered high prices.

한편으로 타겟팀에 잔류한 사람들은 2014년 삼성코닝정밀소재가 코닝정밀소재와 SCG로 분리될 때 '삼성'이라는 타이틀 때문에 잔류한 상황으로 이번 타겟팀의 주주 변동에 대해 망연자실한 상황이다.

On the other hand, those who remained in the target team were devastated by the change in shareholders of the target team because of the title "Samsung" when Samsung Corning Precision Materials were separated into Corning Precision Materials and SCG in 2014.
