But contradictions follow. It is counterproductive that the freedom and rights of the few are sacrificed to pursue the happiness of the majority.

Liberalism is an idea and movement that values individual freedom and free expression of personality, and society and groups exist to ensure individual freedom.

Sometimes they suppress individual freedom and sacrifice for the public interest, and sometimes suffer inhumane difficulties by being caught in the noose of the social system created by humans.

There should be no act of rationalizing the sacrifice of others under the pretext of justice, but lawlessness under the guise of justice is prevalent throughout this society. Therefore, before putting justice first, it is necessary to pursue a social climate that values minimal morality and conscience.

마이클 센델 교수의 '정의란 무엇인가'에서는 정의와 관련한 각종 딜레마를 비롯하여 공리주의와 자유주의, 공동체 주의를 통해 해석했다.

정의를 판단하는 세가지 기준은 행복과 자유와 미덕이다.

정의란 무엇인가에 열광한 한국 국민들은 공정성에 대한 욕구가 크다.

공리주의는 최대 다수에게 최대 행복을 중요시하는 사상이며 공리주의는 가치 판단의 기준을 효용과 행복의 증진에 두어 최대 다수의 최대 행복 실현을 윤리적 행위의 목적으로 삼았다.

하지만 모순도 뒤따른다. 다수의 행복을 추구하기 위해 소수의 자유와 권리가 희생당하는 역효과를 낫는다.

자유주의는 개인의 자유와 자유로운 인격 표현을 중시하는 사상이자 운동으로 사회와 집단은 개인의 자유를 보장하기 위해 존재한다.

때론 공공의 이익을 위해 개인의 자유를 억압하며 희생을 시키는 경우도 있으며, 인간이 만들어 놓은 사회 시스템의 올가미에 걸려 비인간적인 곤욕을 치루기도 한다.

정의를 빌미로 타인을 희생시키는 일에 대해 합리화 시키는 행위는 없어야 하지만, 정의를 빙자한 무법이 이 사회 곳곳에는 만연하다. 따라서 정의를 앞세우기 이전에 최소한의 도덕과 양심을 소중히 하는 사회 풍토를 추구해야 한다.
