2월 4일, 구미시 낙동강 해평·강정 습지에 내려 앉은 천연기념물 재두루미 55마리

한국야생조류보호협회 이사장의 말에 따르면 두루미는 나는 새 가운데 가장 크고 높이 난다.

또한 새가 보이지 않는 하늘 멀리서부터 나팔 소리와 같은 큰 울음소리가 들려와 천국의 전령이란 뜻으로 천상의 새라고도 했다.

사람들은 두루미에 대해 장수와 행운, 질서와 가족사랑을 나타내는 길조로 생각하고 있고 우리 한반도에서는 평화의 상징으로 사랑 받고 있다.

문화재청은 특히 재두루미가 세계적으로 5000여마리 정도가 남아있는 멸종위기의 진귀한 새이므로 천연기념물로 지정하여 보호하고 있다고 알리고 있다.

최근 재두루미가 구미시의 낙동강 해평.강정습지로 찾아들었다.

철새 도래지이자 우리나라 최대의 수려한 낙동강을 방문한 반가운 손님이다.

자연이 허락하지 않는 곳에는 철새들도 방문하지 않는다.
