무공해 뽕잎으로 키운 어린누에 254만 마리, 5개 시군, 13농가에 보급

복합 영농하는 누에 사육 농가에 소득향상과 노동력 절감 효과 기대

이번에 공급하는 어린누에는 무균시설을 갖춘 농업기술원 누에 사육실에서 무공해 뽕잎을 공급하여 8일 간 키운 것으로, 28일 건강한 3령 어린누에 254만 마리 127상자를 13개 누에 사육 농가에 보급한다.

The young silkworms, which are supplied with sterile facilities, were raised for eight days by the National Institute of Agricultural Technology's silkworm breeding room, and 2.54 million boxes of healthy three-year-old silkworms will be distributed to 13 silkworms on the 28th.

어린누에는 생육 특성상 고온 다습한 생육 조건이 필요하며 사육 환경이 불량하면 병에 대한 저항성이 낮고 발육상태도 균일하지 못해 농가들이 사육에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다.

Young silkworms need high-temperature, humid conditions for growth due to their nature of growth, and if the breeding environment is poor, farmers are having a lot of difficulties raising them because they are less resistant to disease and have less uniform development conditions.

8월 중순은 여름에 전정한 뽕나무 가지에 새로 뽕잎이 돋아나고, 누에알이 부화되어 사육이 시작되는 시기로 타 작물의 병해충 관리 등으로 일손이 부족하게 되는 시기이다.

도 농업기술원은 해마다 이 시기에 도내 양잠 농가 생산성 향상을 위해 건강한 어린누에를 분양해 오고 있으며, 복합영농을 하는 누에 사육 농가의 소득 향상과 함께 노동력을 크게 절감시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

분양한 어린누에는 각 농가에서 약 13일(5령3일 누에) 또는 17일(홍잠) 더 사육하여 출하하게 된다. 5령3일 누에는 칼륨, 알라닌, 멜라토닌, 비타민E 등의 성분이 풍부해 기력을 촉진하고 혈당강하 뿐 아니라 혈압, 노화방지 등에 효과가 있어 건강 기능성 보조식품 및 의약품으로 각광을 받고 있다.

홍잠은 알츠하이머 치매를 유발하는 ‘베타-아밀로이드’ 단백질의 축적을 저해하여 알츠하이머 치매를 예방할 수 있다고 최근 연구 결과로 밝혀졌다. 홍잠의 이러한 기능성 발견은 위축되었던 양잠 산업에 활기를 불어 넣어 큰 폭의 소비 확대를 불러올 것으로 기대된다.

Hongjam can prevent Alzheimer's dementia by hindering the accumulation of the 'beta-amyloid' protein that causes Alzheimer's dementia, a recent study has found. 도 농업기술원 이슬비 연구사는 “건강한 누에를 도 내 양잠농가에 공급함으로써 농가의 생산성 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대하며, 전통산업인 양잠이 고소득 작목으로 재도약하기 위해 꾸준한 연구로 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

Lee Seul-bi, a researcher at the provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services, said, "We expect to contribute to improving the productivity of farmers by supplying healthy silkworms to poultry farmers in the province, and we will do our best with steady research to make a leap forward as a high-income crop."
